Working on the Faith Mountain record... more details someday!

Did I tell you we're going on tour?

Posted May 17, 2009

Because we are. Not so much a tour, I suppose, but three shows in Toronto. They are:

Thu, May 21 @ Whippersnapper Gallery w/ sebastien grainger and the mountains, dinosaur bones and friendly foes

Fri, May 22 @ Polish Combatants Hall w/ think about life and tuneyards

Sat, May 23 @ Sneaky Dee's w/ green go, shellshag, fiasco and the guest bedroom

It's all a part of Over the Top Fest which we are pretty excited to be a part of. See you there Toronto!

To the Point! reviewed in NOW!!!

"Of the 11 songs on this tape (or digital download, if you've thrown out your old tape deck), only three break the one-minute mark, which gives you a clue as to how Bayonets!!! approach punk rock. Short, fast and loud is their game, but this is more angular and arty than your typical hardcore.

Hailing from Edmonton, the Bayonets!!! are made up of ex-members of Mark Birtles Project and the Wolfnote, but chances are that won't mean much to you unless you're an Alberta expat. For the rest of us, picture frenetic post-hardcore blasts of noise, with the focus more on spastic fun than angry political rants. Short and sweet is much better than sprawling and tedious, something every band should...

March Roundup

Posted March 12, 2009

Our first full-length To the Point is available for FREE download here as the cassette is now out of print.

We got an awesome review in Vue:

"To the Point! isn't just a bad pun on Bayonets!!!'s name: this tape (and digital download) jets by in just over eight minutes, breezy even for a band that takes pride in playing a set that tops out at 15 minutes on a luxurious day. What they lack in length they more than make up for in punch, however: made up of former members of both the Wolfnote and MBP (including, full disclosure, Vue employee Bryan Birtles, though, fuller disclosure, no one around here likes him) Bayonets!!! blister through a punk-influenced noise like laconic...

To the Point reviewed in Exclaim!

Amazing review:

"Edmonton, AB post-hardcore mob the Wolfnote were a beloved band whose demise felt too early, as so many had yet to experience their forward-thinking approach to punk rock. Fortunately, the band's members have birthed two excellent projects: minimal punk duo the Famines, and Bayonets!!!, whose debut full-length has just been released on grape-scented cassette and as a digital download. Boasting 11 tracks in just over eight minutes, the album is comprised of frantic bursts of guitar-heavy post-punk and dance-y hardcore complete with super-fun call-and-response vocals. While it sounds gimmicky it's not. Recorded with superbly clear production, the album boasts some extremely technical musicianship and forward-thinking songwriting without any needless repetition. Highly recommended. (Bart)"

Bayonets!!! triumph over the adversity of Calgary Hype Man

Posted February 01, 2009

The shows this weekend in Calgary and Edmonton with the Mae Shi were absolutely amazing. We had such a good time playing with them and buying globes too! It's so nice to play with a band that you really admire and their personalities not only live up to, but exceed their music. Run, don't walk to buy their records or see them play.

The tapes were released at the two shows and sold way better than we thought. We only brought about 50 and they were totally snatched up. We will be bringing more to our show on the 20 with the marvelous Famines and Sharp Ends.
